<<KASBAH>> Collection

Limited edition collection

The “KASBAH” furniture collection is inspired by the traditional earthen architecture of Morocco and the cultural heritage of the Amazigh people (also known as Berbers), the original inhabitants of North Africa. Kasbahs and ksars are traditional Moroccan structures that brought communities together, featuring both communal and private spaces, fortified for defense.

Built using the pisé technique, compacted earth blocks, or adobe bricks, these buildings could reach impressive heights, creating intriguing volumes. The design of the collection draws inspiration from the shapes of Moroccan kasbah towers, where the vertical structure relies on load-bearing walls that can reach up to one meter thick at the ground floor, gradually thinning to 50 cm on the upper levels, forming a truncated conical geometry. Earthen materials are often paired with complementary elements like wood, stone, and lime.

MOROCCAN EARTHEN ARCHITECTURE

The “KASBAH-BERBER” collection reflects the aesthetic of Moroccan earthen architecture in its geometric design. The stools and benches feature solid wood frames with truncated conical legs, and the seats are upholstered with handwoven Berber carpets. Unlike Eastern traditions, the art of Berber weaving, practiced by the nomadic and semi-nomadic women of the Maghreb, is guided by the creativity of the individual weaver, making each piece a unique and original creation. This ancient weaving tradition, passed down from mother to daughter, incorporates the symbols of Tifinagh, the script of the Amazigh people, blending them with geometric patterns and universal symbols inspired by everyday life.

Starting with seating furniture, the collection expands to include decorative cushions, wall décor, and paintings by artists inspired by the Berber world. Most items in this collection are one-of-a-kind, characterized by an ethnic and bohemian aesthetic, the use of vibrant, handwoven Berber carpets, and the rich traditions of the Amazigh people.
