In 2017, Italian architect Silvia Chiabrera founded MORETTINA® DESIGN in Morocco, inspired by the shift in Moroccan interiors from vibrant, traditional salons to soulless modern decor. Launched during Casablanca Design Week in Casablanca’s Maarif neighborhood, the atelier opened with a
“Morettina” in Italian evokes a little dark-haired girl, with deep eyes and olive skin.
In Spanish, the word “moro” often refers to the people of the Maghreb, rich in history and tradition.
The name MORETTINA® is a tribute to the encounter of these three cultures, Italian, Spanish, and Moroccan , woven together in a spirit of warmth and beauty.
It is the vision of Silvia Chiabrera, an Italian architect and designer who has made Morocco her home and source of inspiration.
