"A journey through the Mediterranean..."
“Morettina” in Italian means “the little dark-haired girl”, with dark eyes and olive skin.
In Spanish, the word “moro” is often used to describe the people of the Maghreb.
The name MORETTINA® is inspired by these three cultures.
Italy represents the love for beauty, everything ancient, and full of history.
Spain embodies the joy of life, bohemian spirit, and vibrant colors.
The Maghreb brings the warmth, mystery, and exoticism that inspire our designs.

MORETTINA
Architect-Designer (Italy)
Graduated in architecture and engineering from Genoa (Italy), Silvia Chiabrera worked as an architect in Barcelona before moving to Casablanca (Morocco) in 2007. In 2017, she founded the brand MORETTINA®, opening a space in the Mâarif district where she introduced a new concept in Mediterranean Mix & Match Furniture.
Deeply inspired by Mediterranean culture, MORETTINA® offers a Mix & Match approach that creates bold, artistic atmospheres where vintage and modern elements blend seamlessly

“Mix & Match is about evolving your interior without falling into monotony.”
A “crossover” style
“I love what is hybrid, eclectic, and unexpected… I enjoy mixing styles and creating unusual combinations of colors and materials.”
The Mix & Match of MORETTINA®
What is Mix & Match?
“Our Mediterranean Mix & Match Furniture philosophy relies on an eclectic furniture concept that creates unexpected combinations and bold pairings, while adhering to the principles of design excellence.”
Mix and Match in practice
“The goal is to blend vintage and modern, chic and kitsch, industrial and retro styles.
Our Mediterranean Mix & Match Furniture creates a harmonious chic-bohemian mix, balancing colors and shapes to transform the old into a unique and highly personalized decoration.”
Is there a risk of overcrowding the space?
“Creating a minimalist environment or a rich and varied decoration is no easy task.
Knowing how to make the right combinations of colors, styles, shapes, and materials is a skill that transcends the rules of interior design schools and decorating manuals.
When selecting pieces for an interior, mixing different items and styles often relies more on intuitive ability and subtlety than on logic. It reflects the famous ‘esprit de finesse’ in philosophy and what is known as ’emotional intelligence’ in psychology.”

But there are people who feel overwhelmed by 'too much'... by color...
“As with every brand choice, it’s impossible to please everyone’s tastes. Being Italian, through travel and comparison, I’ve realized that…
…our interiors are often filled with objects and family heirlooms. Our traditions value history and the craftsmanship of artisans, where family and sentimental significance hold great weight. We don’t throw away objects; we believe they gain more value over time!
I grew up with this mindset.
To me, a slightly layered interior has more personality than a design magazine look.”

La collaboration entre la designer, les artisans et les artistes.
“The idea is to create pieces where different artistic fields merge. For example, I restored an old Louis XVI chair using chalk paint for a weathered effect, reupholstered it with contemporary fabrics, and incorporated an artist’s painting into the chair’s backrest.
This fusion of styles and techniques exemplifies our commitment to unique furniture design and artistic craftsmanship.”
